Send cases
Under Cases you create cases for your laboratories, follow their progress and talk to the lab. The case list shows your open cases with the next delivery first; Drafts, Closed (completed, rejected or cancelled) and All are one click away.
Create a case
Select New case. The page has three parts and a summary on the right (below on phones):
- Lab and patient
- Choose the lab. If you are connected with only one lab, it is already selected.
- Search the patient by name or record number, or select New patient to add one right away.
- Below the patient you see what the lab will see (see Privacy).
- Items – select Add item and search the lab's products and services. For each item:
- Teeth: select them on the tooth chart. Select all selects a whole arch; select a tooth again to remove it. Items priced per tooth count the selected teeth.
- Arch: upper, lower or both. Items priced per arch count the arches.
- Variants such as material or finish. Lab's choice leaves the decision to the lab. Some variants change the price.
- Details such as shade (type or pick, e.g. A2 or BL2), stump shade or implant system.
- Components of orthodontic appliances (clasps, screws, bands …): change the number with – and +. Defaults and limits come from the edonto catalog.
- Notes for this item.
- Use the icons to duplicate an item (e.g. the same crown on other teeth) or remove it.
- Delivery, notes and files
- Delivery date – edonto shows the usual production time of the items and suggests a date. A hint appears if you choose a shorter time.
- Patient appointment – try-in or seating. edonto warns you if the appointment is before the delivery date. Appointments you book in the calendar and link to the case replace this date automatically.
- Notes for the lab.
- Files – drop intraoral scans (STL, PLY, OBJ), photos, PDFs or ZIP archives (up to 200 MB each) or click to choose them.
Finally select Send to lab, or Save draft to finish later. Drafts are only visible to your practice.
Cost estimate
The summary shows the estimated total as you go, calculated with the prices your lab has set for your practice, including variant surcharges and components. Items without a price are marked Price on request. The lab confirms the final price.
Only owners, administrators and dentists see prices; assistants don't.
Status of a case
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Not sent yet – only your practice sees it |
| Submitted | Sent; the lab has not accepted it yet |
| Accepted | The lab accepted the case |
| In production | The lab is working on it |
| At try-in | Sent back to you for a try-in; the lab continues afterwards |
| Ready | Finished, waiting for delivery |
| Shipped | On its way to you |
| Delivered | The lab marked it as delivered |
| Completed | You confirmed the receipt |
| On hold | Paused by the lab – the reason is shown on the case |
| Rejected / Cancelled | Closed without production – with the reason |
The case page shows a progress bar, the history with all changes and the reasons the lab gave.
What you can do yourself:
- Cancel case – as long as the lab has not accepted it (a reason is required).
- Edit – change items, dates and notes until the lab accepts the case.
- Complete case – confirm the receipt after delivery.
Messages and files
Use Messages at the bottom of the case to talk to the lab; the lab is notified by email. Under Files you can add files at any time, open photos and PDFs, download files and view scans in 3D (drag to rotate, scroll or pinch to zoom).
Request a remake
If a delivered or completed case needs to be made again, open ⋯ → Request remake, choose the reason (fit, shade, occlusion, fracture, shape or new impression) and describe what needs to change. edonto sends a new case with the same items to the lab, linked to the original.
Privacy
Labs only see what they need: by default the patient's initials, your record number, age and sex. Owners and administrators can allow the full name under Organization → Settings → Privacy; the setting applies to new cases. Your patient records stay in your practice.
